"After you restored our marble floors they looked better than when they were first installed. And to think -- we were ready to rip it all out until we called you. We will recommend you to everyone we know!"

Question
Why won't the water spots on my marble or travertine clean up?
Answer

These are not water spots, but an etch mark in the surface of the stone. This is what happens when an acidic substance comes in contact with any calcium based stone.

To get rid of the etch marks, the stone will need to be polished out, much like a gemstone would have to be if it were scratched. If the damaged area is not very large or the damage is not too severe (you can't feel roughness with your fingertips), then you can probably fix it yourself with a marble polishing compound or powder. We recommend Stonecare PRO Signature Etch Remover Marble Polish which you can find at www.stonecarecentral.com.

If the damage is more severe, we can hone / polish out the area and restore it to like new. Give us a call.
